I keep all my paper licenses in a #2 mayonnaise jar on Funk and Wagnall's back porch.

I guess I can understand all the kicking and screaming....but...
I'm not really surprised a bit, as here in NH, everything can now be done
online with no "official" paperwork sent out from State offices...
Hunting License, Boat License & reg., Plumbing and Electrical licenses...
all printed off at your own home printer...
The only thing sent from the State, is your Drivers license...
    The future is here.

Did the ARRL really spell it BRAKING?

they must have used spell check instead of a human to proof the spelling...

What is wrong with plain white recycled paper? Heck, I'm looking at my original novice license issued on June 19, 1963 and it was plain white paper, black ink and the FCC typed with the original information with call, name, etc on it. Heck, the person who was the commissioner used an ink pad stamp to sign it! I'd still like to get a paper copy though even if it is white plain paper!

Remember back when their was pride in earning a CW Ham License, and FCC wasn't just a bunch
of political hacks with no electronic knowledge-IMO!

FYI, Connecticut went from plate stickers to windshield stickers in 2006. In 2010, they quit requiring stickers altogether.

No need to go to barcodes. OCR technology today is sufficient for computers to read every plate visible from a police cruiser or a roadside camera.

How is the type of paper a license is printed on leading to the downfall of ham radio? If you want an "official looking" paper copy, go to Kinkos and print your own. Sheesh!
Next thing you know, that new fangled SSB will be clogging up the airwaves and radios will be controlled by computers! Then they'll do away with the CW requirement. All is lost!

    [QUOTE
The FCC rejected as "outside the scope of this proceeding" an ARRL
argument that Section 97.23 of the Amateur Service rules be amended
to replace "licensee mailing address" with other alternatives,
including e-mail, for use in Commission correspondence. The rule,
which requires that any licensee mailing address be in an area where
the licensee has US Postal Service access, has precluded FCC
issuance of location-specific call signs in such areas as Navassa
Island (KP1) and some Pacific islands.

This was a very wise action on behalf of the FCC to not change this requirement. It's difficult for me
to imagine the logical reasoning behind the ARRL wanting to change it. Your call should always be
based on your physical location, it would turn into a "cluster" otherwise.

I also believe that the FCC should require hams who move from as geo-restricted call area (say KH6)
to a US mainland address (say K6) should have 12 months to change their call to the new area. The
only exception would be for Military active duty persons and/or family members.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Federal licenses only.

In California, plastic is reserved for cosmetic surgery... not for driver's license lamination. ;)
