No.... next you will be able to get the Full License on special marked boxes of Corn Flakes....Sugar Coated Flakes for an Extra Class license........I was told until now you had to buy special marked packages of Adult Diapers to get Those :)

These things seem to oscillate. Back in the '80s you could request from the FCC a blue amateur extra diploma that looked like a smaller version of the ornate commercial licenses. (I believe at least one printer is still making these as unofficial issues.) Now the commercial tickets are as plain as the ham ones. On the other hand, a few years ago FAA licenses looked like very bad copies of faxed papers. Since 2010 they've been hard plastic cards with a pretty sharp appearance. That was driven by concern about flying terrorists (no comment on whether it does any good). But I guess ham radio doesn't inspire the same fears!

In reality, I would venture to guess that almost everyone WILL request an FCC-printed license document. So Mr. Bureau Chief, where is your savings now???

Sure, it all looks good in theory. But stark reality remains.

Gradual transition. They will announce in a year that the "majority" of people have opted for the paperless option, and will phase out the printed one.

With no way to really prove if this has happened or not, it will be done.

People would scream too loud if they eliminated it now. So now they print it on standard paper, people figure they can do that themselves.

They get what they eventually want. Its the government way-set a goal, take steps to reach it.

Wrong. This projected savings is for the coming fiscal year.
    Not gradually.

So, again I say, where is the alleged savings???

Get real. You don't seriously expect hams on QRZ.com to pay attention to FACTs do you?

Fantasy, confusion and panic are more fun.

But wouldn't it be better to do this activity outside, and not from inside an elevator shaft?

See.. this is the kind of thing that happens when you don't learn the material on the exams.

More like 50 cents off your next FCC fee from the savings. You can still get the certificate, nothing's changed other than we're responsible for a little more work for our wallpaper.

Well, consider this: Perhaps ARRL wants it to be Braking News rather than breaking news. (Wants to stop the nonsense) :)
