Just remember: the board is ephemeral, the staffers are not.

They work very hard on your behalf.

    I don't agree with that.

What we need is an ARPA that does not create problems as it tries to solve others.

Wrong, on THEIR behalf! They make policy and then tell you what it is; should be the other way around!

You read it wrong OM: the staff work very hard on your behalf.

    Staff DO; board SETS.

95% of the staff are busy doing things like making QST, going over your QSLs for DXCC; editing books; testing ham gear; finding RFI problems; maintaining W1AW.

Most of the staff are very friendly and underpaid , and nice, ladies. Not hams either.

I have never seen anyone not welcome at Newington.

    OK:)?

750K? Please! When they, the politicians, look at who the ARRL is, it is not 750K, it is 22% of that! in other words....pretty weak showing of the ham community.

But but but... they SAY they're the National Association for Ham Radio. IOW, they represent what they think all hams "need".

    Dear HOA Hams:

There are so many ways to put up an antenna that either cannot be seen, is hidden in plain sight or only comes out at night. From attic dipoles to soffit/siding loops, to flagpoles as verticals and dipoles, verticals and beams that only come out at night. No, you can't have an 80 foot tower...but you can have a blast working around or breaking the HOA rules and not getting caught:cool:

this is as bad as the arrl telling the fcc that it erred in giving 3600-3650 to the extra class licensees.

    I prefer to:
    • work within the rules (to which I agreed w/ my signature).
    • get an exemption
    • have government use currently valid reason for invalidating the rules.
    • find other ways to get on the air that won't break any rules such as:
      • mobile stations
      • portable stations
      • club stations
      • remote stations

They could turn you in to the FCC for violating erp limits of your license.

As licensed hams, we should all know this.
