must be all the members ham radio ops, thats a cool thing to have in such a large group
I know one overland group that allows non hams in their party to use the ham bands which is totally illegal

You are probably referring to the UV-5X3 which looks like a UV5R, but is instead made by BTECH, not Baofeng.

On my hunting lease there are only 5 members. 3 of us are Hams. The other 2 guys sometimes want to use radios and sometimes not. When they do, we use our GMRS licenses, which we all have. There is a noticeable difference between the range of a GMRS radio and that of one of the ones I mention in this video.

 

Making asinine faces for the Youtube video thumbnail must be a proven traffic generator, but personally it makes me not want to click on the video. Not trying to denigrate, I know how hard it can be to produce content. I am about half the age of the average ham lol, so I am not some angry get off my lawn type....it just makes me assume something is lacking and being made up for.

I'm not sure Jason would even know who Les Paul was. He might know about Jimmy Hendricks though.
