Rest in pease Bob , tnx for the radio / the heil sound / music / and equipment 73"s from holland/ the netherlands.
Bobs contributions to Ham radio are more than some know. To name just a few, a line of good sounding microphones, as well as Bass and Treble control on newer radios are a result of Bob Heils contributions with the manufacturers. I never met him but have talked to him on the phone many times, very nice man to talk to. May he R.I.P
Very saddened to hear about Bob's passing. He was such a nice guy, would talk with you on the phone, answer your emails, and help you set-up your audio. I think he is the only "sound guy" in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. I am sure Joe Walsh is crushed at this news as are all of us that knew and loved Bob. He was special, irreplaceable, selfless, optimistic, and always there to help or support any and all facets of Amateur Radio. Thank you for all you did for me and I will miss you, Joe W4JF
Man that was a cool guy and always seemed so happy and real. An end to an era for sure.. will be missed in deed....
It is sad news. He really made an effort to make HAM radio fun, and was always available for technical discussions. Its an amazing man that can keep it FUN and be technical, and always available. He will be missed. 73
Bob was a wonderful and brilliant man with a personality as bright as his creative mind. He was also a Very Cool Guy ! Thoughts and Prayers for Sarah, Family, Friends and the Heil Sound Crew. Jim WB4ILP
I've met Bob a few times over the years from the audio engineering side of his persona. We were rambling at my booth at an AES show when he convinced me to get my amateur radio ticket. Here's an interesting TV news interview of how his PA sound company got going.
