In case you missed this years camp, here's a wrap up from Becca, my daughter and camper. Towards the end, two more campers dropped in. During the stream several hams stepped up to the plate to donate some funds to get Becca her own radio and continue to excitement. I gotta tell you, with all the new energy, enthusiam and generosity coming into the hobby, its a fantastic opportunity to shed some of the "grumpy old ham" gatekeeping!
Awesome wrap up and interview. Great to see that enthuasim and I hope that Becca get's a nice shiny new piece of equipment for her ham shack. Well done!
Where do we donate to Becca's radio fund? What is she looking to buy? It's very nice to see Not-A-Grumpy-Old-Ham talking about ham radio! Keep it up! Also, where do we go to get in on the chat for the next time y'all do a livestream? Thanks and 73, Todd KI5HNX
Hello Todd! The Nuggets show is every Monday night at 7pm Central and we'd love to have you in the chat. If you'd like to contribute to Becca's new radio fund, you can paypal to temporarilyoffline@gmail.com. She's very close with all the support during the live stream! Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your experience! What was the fox hunt kit y'all were building? Did you make antennas also?
I just looked at the YOTA foxoring video from last week - it appears y'all were hunting on the 80m band? The receivers look kind of like a multimeter with a collapsible whip sticking out the top. How did the foxorers like using them?
Found it! Looks like the receiver kit is for the R3500D. I did not know about this one - I've always focused on 2m and higher frequency hunts. Thanks again for sharing!
Glad you found it, I wasn't able to get the answer for you yet. The kids had fun on the foxoring, you can see them running around in one of the highlight videos that YOTA put out.
