Yards On The Air (YOTA) Start date January 1, 2022. Mission: To enjoy Amateur Radio operations outside the shack. Amateur Radio contacts from the porch, deck, driveway, any location on one’s property. Goal: To operate a “portable” Amateur Radio station without climbing to the summit of a mountain or setting up in a park. Bands and Modes: Any band(s) and mode(s) you can legally operate. The use of repeaters, hotspots and digital voice and data technologies is allowed. Membership: There are no membership dues, numbers, id cards, certificates, or nets. However, if you would like to run a YOTA net please do so. Logging: Any electronic or paper format is acceptable. Log Submissions: None required. Awards: YOTA is about having fun, which is its own reward. Newsletters: Email stories and photos about operating your YOTA station to yardsontheair@gmail.com. Does the "yard" have to be your own? My buddy, also a ham, has a great deck for relaxing and drinking beer. It might be fun to run a multi-op station from his house. Sounds like fun though and a good way to get rid of some excess beer and bbq while playing on the air, or a way to combat boredom while doing yard work. Chris

Back during the last solar peak I mounted a 10 Meter on the riding mower. Unfortunately the ignition was was so bad it was pointless.
Can't we start it on February 2nd, 2022? I won't be able to make January 1st, I will be ending up in the yard but usually not in the Best condition for a QSO... RRK
