Here is an interview I had with Vance, N3VEM, but the upcoming Support Your Parks weekend.
my favorite POTA event is PORCHES ON THE AIR.........combines my 2 loves sitting on the porch and making contacts and having a cold one
Not sure if they promote POTA on other weekends but it's below freezing this weekend.
I do enjoy getting out and making contacts from parks in better weather.
POTA activation this weekend @ 7° to -7° in New Hampshire with 30 mph wind gusts.
Yeah, not this hombre!
I will support POTA from the shack.
GO POTA ACTIVATORS!
@KC5HWB my mom used to tell me my face would stay like that when I was a kid, she was right, now I have a face for radio!
Brother, that sounds like my kind of event!
Or, BDOTA, Back Decks On The Air.
Watched video and came away wondering what to do....it seems to me there is little to nothing in directions here nor is there much in definition of what POTA is all about. They know what they're talking about but I just didn't get much "Join in and do it" info.

Perfect! Coincides with the VHF contest.
I've done a number of SOTA activations in combination with VHF contest participation (usually as overnight camping trips on the summit). No reason why POTA during the event wouldn't work just as well (might be one of the few times you can easily have a successful VHF-only POTA activation). The only challenge is getting the signal report (not required for the contest), but most contesters oblige if you ask.
What is POTA, you ask?
Also, check out some of the videos from KB9VBR, K4SWL, or K8MRD for video content recorded during a park activation.
why would someone schedule this during the dead of winter?
Because we dont have enough, we need more events, maybe like 6 out 0f 7 days a week, 353 days a year.
Another solid video, thanks HWB!
We also need a Back Yards On The Air
