I'm hearing South America all over 10 meters right now. PY3TX calling CQ on 28.415 now

 

In March of 2023, I had 2 contacts in Ecuador on 6 meters. 8,000 foot elevation there gave me a 59!!

 

I've had a similar experience as N3WVB, here in central NY. A year ago QSOs to S. America were a dime a dozen. Now they are rare, but any station I can hear in Europe I can work on a random wire at 100w. I made some QSOs to northern S. America and the Caribbean during the DX contest, but they were a struggle.

 

I will be trying once again for South American Contacts on 10 12 15 17 and 20.
Hoping to hear what others are hearing and hoping to work as many as possible
May have to work out a sked with stations just to see if contact is available and obtainable
After reading so ,any posts , I have to say I am a bit shocked at how many are hearing SA
Strangest of all is how many on Air Contacts continue to tell me they are not hearing SA
But I will continue the search starting at 1500UTC beaming south with amp pounding.

Paraguay was on 15M phone two evenings ago. It seems like it was around 23:00 UTC. I'm in Indiana and South America seems to be easy to copy with a wire antenna at my QTH. There was a DXpedition to Guyana earlier this month (8R7X) and I was able to fill 15 slots -- one of them being 10M FM. Propagation certainly can be hit or miss -- I know a ham 250 miles west of me that copies some DX that I cannot copy -- so I know that you being one state east of me can be a different situation. Good luck in your quest!

Daniel was a strong 5/9 into Ohio and gave me a 5/7
More importantly Daniel confirms his contacts on QRZ.

What seemed strange to me was that Daniel was the only SA station heard not just on 15m ...
but anywhere 10, 12, 15, 17, or 20.

Hopefully this will change as we get closer to summer.

Got close with HP1/EA5XV in Guatemala though his call was from Panama on 20m.
Unfortunately not a user of QRZ Log Book and not in SA (lol)
