    Right.
    The SD card for the 7300 should contain the ini file, opsys file for WSJT-X.
    The odds of the 7300 SD card AND computer crashing are slim to none.
    You are right; so many don't read the entire manual on their rigs.
    Most rigs these days only supply the "Getting Started" basic manual...It's good but not good enough.
    I ran into this with my IC 9700, the advanced manual has to be downloaded...I suppose they cut some cost by not providing the full paper manual.

    The new firm ware update for ICOM 7300 already has the FT8 WSJT already set up so you can select that mode in pre select or go back to normal operations. You do not need to go thru all of this it is done automatically with the new ICOM 7300 firm ware update.

    With firmware version 1.4 loaded on your IC-7300, press MENU, then on the menu screen press the number 2, then press FT8 PRESET, then press 2:FT8 then confirm with YES to load the preset memory.

    But, It's Very easy to hear with polite pronunciation.

    By the way
    CI-V is not CI-V
    V is not V, but 5
    So, polite pronunciation is CI five (^^
