Today I received my grandpa's callsign. I have setup a new logbook and am able to pull each logbook up individually. So that appears to be correct. I still have the following questions though: 1. When logging into QRZ, my login name is my old callsign. Is this okay? Or do I need to request it to be changed to the new vanity callsign? 2. When going to the Awards section, I am not seeing both logbooks in the menu on the left side. I have no awards under the old call sign and no QSO's under the new callsign, but I thought I'd see both logbooks. Any idea as to why I'm not? 3. My bio is still under the old call sign. I can see how to change the text of my bio, but how do I change the title, which is my old call sign, to my new vanity call sign? Thanks in advance. 73 K7AOP, formerly known as KJ7CJG
Just found a similar question on the web. Sounds like I just need to be patient and let the updates propagate. Since today is the day I received the new callsign, from what I'm reading, QRZ will get the new callsign update from the FCC tonight and I will then be able to login to QRZ with the new callsign as my username. So, I'll just be patient and give it some time. 73
Correct - the FCC update usually clears QRZ in 1 to 3 days. Of course, sometimes there are going to be delays. But generally 1 to 3. Dave W7UUU
Congrats on getting the call sign. That is very cool. Nothing would make me prouder than my daughter, or her children, one day getting my call sign. from your QRZ page: “Radio must be in one's genetics. My grandpa, silent key (K7AOP), was a ham, and my dad (K7TXA) was a ham. In fact, my dad was a ship radio man while serving in the Coast Guard. When my grandpa's call sign becomes available, I will try to get it so that it remains in the family.” Nailed it. I was last to the large party of hams seeking W3KW upon expiration. That’s how I got it. I read, and re-read the rules on the FCC website and nailed the application window perfectly. Sounds like you have the QRZ issues all sorted out. I changed my callsign twice and can’t remember how I made the change on the Zed. Getting old is super fun. I get to forget all my mistakes. Just ask my wife.
