"ARRL is reviewing the matter and intends to file comments in opposition." From The ARRL Letter for September 3, 2020 that just hit my inbox.
The fee is coming, it's pretty much a guarantee...we just need to argue about how much it needs to be. Since phone ops use the most bandwidth, I propose a microphone tax of $100 a year, per microphone.
Then how would FT8 operators be similarly taxed/rewarded for using less bandwidth than CW? Would there be a per key charge for CW operators?
A $100/QSO digital "Tax" for conveying little or no information other than callsign, signal report and grid square!!
I'll repeat my earlier suggestion that this thread be closed for being redundant, there's other threads on the FCC fee proposal. All I'm seeing here is a tendency to go off topic. My bad for feeding the trolls earlier.
A PROPOSED FEE of $50 WOULD BE WRONG AND OUTLANDISH !. If any reason to implement a increase of processing fee to our hobby radio service be it within reason. So any such fee exceeding $10 would be unreasonable. Just who configured this fee amount in a time of machines and computers that process licenses. Such Ideas pick away at the very foundation of this radio service open to any citizen of the United States.
Indeed. There's many that think other people should pay for their "stuff".......It's not a new concept......It works until we run out of other peoples money.......(someone famous said that but the name escapes me.....)
There's many that think nobody should have to pay even 1 punitive cent for providing, nor being a public beneficiary of, a voluntary noncommercial communication service.
