The FCC is preparing to implement the $35 application fee for amateur radio very soon. In this video I explain some recent developments including a meeting the FCC is having with the VECs to discuss implementation. I also talk about a recent email that has been going around where people jumped the gun and thought that the fee was going to be implemented on July 15 (spoiler alert: it is not)
But, how could the FCC possibly provide us with the infrastructure and enforcement needed for the Amateur Service without money to pay for it? /s
perhaps glad the FCC is not collecting, yet. the fees were instituted by Congress. We should work with them to umdo it, not get mad at federal agencies who are following the law.
It’s still cheaper than fishin and hunting license. I’m just glad I completed my license before it became implemented. Thanks N2RJ Ria.
I would pay even more if the FCC would actually do its job and go after all of the so called certified equipment that provides the constant s9+ noise floor or the intermodulation cause by poor maintenance practices at many private and government antenna sites.
I do not mind the fee ! If the FCC cleans up the bands & stops taking our SPECTRUM & selling it !!! 73' Phil..
$3.50 per year is hardly anything to be upset about. At all. And the fear mongering that it will continue to go up, etc., just doesn't hold water.
