10 Meter Contest

This was my very first contest and I had a blast. It was definitely slow at times but there were some openings, mostly on Saturday. I was operating voice only low power (100w) from Pennsylvania with a homemade half wave dipole. Was surprised to make as many QSOs as I did. Also heard three South American stations but just didn't have the power for them to hear me. Ended up working 15 US states so I was more than happy.

Welcome to the contest world! Absolutely submit a log for the reasons mentioned, you never know if you will win your section/category. I won NTX Section SOLP SSB in my first contest with just 70 contacts (2004 IARU)*

I really dig the set-up with the light stands, the true spirit of ham radio, getting an antenna up any way you can! Hope to work on your air sometime!

*This is how I remember it, ARRL does not have the results online for that contest, if I still have the certificate it is in a box somewhere

I mailed out my logs earlier today! Come spring I'll be installing my roof mast, landlord actually gave me permission to mount a W8IO style mast and rotator on the roof so this winter I'm designing the system.

Definitely hope to work you in the future as well
