I bought the large case at Harbor Freight, my FT-991 fits in there perfectly :)

    Very nice job! Few questions
    * Do you have info on the battery?
    * How are you charging it?

    Thx,

    Jason

    Thanks for watching!
It is a 12V 14ah battery, and I charge it with a Goal Zero charge controller and solar panel. I also have a Battery Tender.

Bad picture of mine, but this is a TM-D710G and MFJ power supply bolted into a 50Cal can. I have a second can that just has a Bioenno battery and the radio. The bracket holding the power supply is custom. The bracket holding the D710 is the standard. The remote head and mic and a bunch of other stuff fits in there.

    'a good go-box that can survive a EMP/ESD hit'

would aluminum foil between the case walls and the foam help a bit?

Thanks for the additional info! Foldable solar panels would be the way to go

An old microwave oven shielding would make a fairly decent EMP shield.... but should you just cut the cord off completely ( i did ) or just the cut the two power pin leaving the ground pin and plug that to the wall outlet for grounding , of is that a bad path ???
I toss my charged up Ht's into the old microwave and close the door , takes some getting used to but might keep them safe.
drop in chargers sit on top of the unit and a power strip mounted near by with a off switch.

Great job! I have been looking for some affordable go boxes, but hadn't even thought about Harbor Freight. Thanks!
