Suppose there are still some of us who remember the first version of this. The clips from the magazines were great. Great memories. And--Merry Christmas!

    In order:
    1. An unmolested, unassembled Heathkit HF rig that I can assemble myself
    2. A Drake TR-6 to add to my Drake TR-4 setup that still blows away the Yaesu FT897D and my SDR stuff in terms of signal reports and sound quality.
    3. An Elecraft model designed to marry digital tuning and filtering aspects of reception to yesteryear's best of the best tube driven audio quality and tube driven transmitter technology.
    4. #3 at an affordable price.
    5. #4 with easily found spare replacement parts, again at an affordable price.

That's all I ask. Is that too much?

    LOL! Merry Christmas!

    I enjoyed the video.

My first rigs (by choice) when I got licensed in 1989 were a Heath Kit DX-100B and Hammarlund HQ-150C. I'd love to have them back but I can't think of any other equipment that I would want.

There was a version of this in a QST in the 1950's. I have since given up all my copies, but I suppose it could be researched.

Believe me, you really can't go back. And despite the stupendous propagation in 57 and 58, its really a pleasure, in comparison, to be OTA in 2018/2019.

The 50's was not the 'golden age of ham radio'.

You are in it, right now.
