Our good friend K3EY Woke up to the sight Of a Christmas tree Laden with presents last night Before he grabbed packages quick as he could He found that the best was the place that he stood Another day’s grayline to get on the air And ragchew with friends from New York to Zaire! Merry Xmas from the DX Dog himelf! 73 Chip W1YW
Thanks for this great Christmas Tale. QST covers bring back memories. Thanks Gary for a posting in true Ham Spirit,
W5TTP after he finished the dishes Thought he would promulgate his Christmas wishes On pictures of old timey boatanchors galore He disagreed with YW and then he implored In the spirit of season and the taste of roast beast There's just one thing left to say at the least If you don't like the kiddo of old yore with pug I have just to say , I do, oh yes, 'Humbug!' Merry Xmas! Chip W1YW
Aren't YOU just the life of the party, I bet. I love this old stuff, and it's mostly before my time in ham radio (1977) too.
I can just picture a Christmas party with Chip.. First half hour he makes everyone feel bad for the crap they got under their tree.. Second half hour he goes into all of his accolades and self pats-on-the-back. As everyone moves to other rooms he follows them around saying "Hey! Haven't I told you about my new radios? And my patents? Where are you all going?" Then he thinks to himself, "boy aren't they lucky to know me..."
That was good! You must be clairvoyant. Seriously, because I did just finish the dishes before I read your response. Really! Merry Christmas and hambugs to all, especially to those who love the ancient mode. No humbug, just hambug...maybe a Bengali?
God filled my veins with happy juice and put me in a happy place. Celebrate this wonderful day and enjoy your family There's plenty of roast beast about to pop out of the oven (truly!); I regret that distance prevents your repast with my wonderful family. And don't forget the DX dog! 73 Chip W1YW
Nah. I enjoy listening to and watch the young folks re-discover the wonders of the world and the enablement of new technology. Why would I need to be the life of the party? The old stuff is fine if you can learn something from it. Oftentimes how these things work is like having a library of options for future creation. Not so with vacuum tube stuff at this point. Its time has truly passed, with a handful of exceptions (mostly in ham radio and audio/music). Even then the solid state/ or modeling options are superior but a bit more expensive. 73 and Merry xmas! Well, God sees everything I just listen to what He has to say! I suspect you and others are the same ;-)
