Ok thats a neat reason to embed that software. Its just all the rage right now that someone rooted the radio. I mean they are quite limited but if you figure this out then that is note worthy.
so root is possible in a chinese radio so you can fix or improve the issues originally sold by the vendor. if you are capable of software code review and would be interesting to learn how many backdoors that thing has and where all your data has gone while you were using it. rooting for the sake of rooting doesnt make any sense other than feeling hax0r. Remember when Android phones were rooted? what happened next? yeah malware. but I wouldnt worry with this, as its made in China, all your data belong to them already no need for root.
I have never had a problem with that. If you root your new phone, Normally the warranty is Void. I normally Void the Warranty ASAP.
Also if someone really wanted to, I bet this procedure would work on the X6100: https://github.com/OpenHamradioFirmware/G90Tools Although for my money, the actual FPGA firmware is better left to the experts in that black magic. If anyone wants to send me an X6100, I'd be happy to take a crack at extraction of the key.
I will accept radios also. It may take 12 months to test it properly. Will your turnaround be quicker ?
