    Obituary for

    Bebermeyer, Garnet Elmer passed from this world on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at age 94 in Fenton, Missouri.

    Garnet was born in Warrenton, Missouri on March 13, 1927, to Elmer W. Bebermeyer and Virginia (nee: Engle). He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Judy; ex-wife, Betty; sons, Brad and Chad Bebermeyer;

    grandchildren, Chris (Stacey) Bebermeyer, and Steven Bebermeyer Jr; daughter-in-law, Kathy Bebermeyer. Garnet was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Virginia; an older brother; two sons, Daniel R. Bebermeyer and Steven Bebermeyer.

    He was employed by the Defense Mapping Agency for 32 years and a WWII veteran in the U.S. Army.

    He managed various men’s softball teams in the St. Louis Metro area. During retirement he held many National Softball Association (NSA) tournaments for Men’s Slow Pitch Softball and Girl’s Fast Pitch Softball including the well-known “Bragging Rights” tourneys.

    He was the NSA Regional Director for Missouri and Illinois after retiring from managing softball teams. Garnet was inducted into the following Sports Hall of Fames for his leadership as Director: National Softball Association, NSA Metro St. Louis and St. Louis Softball.

    He was an Amateur Radio Operator (WB0UNB) who talked to other operators on the air since 1976 and an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball season fan who rarely missed a game.

    He worked for a few summers at Six Flags over St. Louis as “Colonel Cobb” dressed as a Civil War Union Soldier who entertained people with tales about the local battles. Then he would ask them to purchase roasted ears of corn at his stand hence the name “Colonel Cobb”. Garnet also worked at the America’s Center & The Dome when the Rams football team was in town as an usher.

    He was a fixture along the sidelines of the field keeping unauthorized persons off of the field. He worked all of the games. He had a very full and active life.

    RESPECTFULLY,
