    HARVEY T STEPHENSON- wb0qke, died this morning at 6:30am, at the age of 103. He would have been 104 on Feb, 25th.

    Thanks for posting this information. I grew up across the street from Harvey in Huntington WV; he had kids my age. I kept in touch with him on the air for many years, and visited him once in Kimberling City.

    [FONT=&quot]Harvey Thorn Stephenson, Kimberling City, MO, was born February 25, 1909, in Chicago, IL to Harvey Perry Stephenson and Edith Grace Thorn Stephenson and departed this life on February 06, 2013 in Kimberling City, MO, at the age of 103. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Lois Glenn Robbins Stephenson; her sister Fern Robbins Trout Thalacker and Fred C Thalacker and one son David Alan Stephenson, Sr.

    Harvey attended schools in Chicago. He graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1932. At about this same time he met and married his wife Glenn on June 10, 1934 in West Terre Haute, IN. His first engineering job was with the WV Huntington District of the Corp of Engineers. His Engineering assignments over a period of many years included surveys, design and construction.

    Harvey’s engineering career was interrupted while he served with the US Naval Construction Battalion 13 at Dutch Harbor in the Aleutian Islands and a second tour with the 143rd Naval Construction Battalion Advanced Base (Construction Depot) in Guiuan, Samar in the Philippines.

    Once returning from military duty he continued his career with the WV Corp of Engineers in the Construction Branch at Bell Point (now Hinton, WV) on the Bluestone Dam Project as Branch Chief and also worked with the Veterans
    Administration Hospital Project in Beckley, WV.

    Upon completion of those projects Harvey and his family, now including two sons, Don Howard and David Alan, Moved to Huntington, WV. His career with the Corp continued with the Civil Defense Team and the Army Training Facilities. His military career continued with the Naval Reserve, serving as Commanding Officer of the Huntington WV Reserve Unit. While in Huntington, Harvey and his family attended the Baptist Temple, where they met and made many great
    friends.

    Upon retirement from the Corp of Engineers, Harvey and his wife moved to Kimberling City, MO. He became the City Engineer for Kimberling City where he served in that position for fifteen years. He became interested in Amateur Radioing and quickly obtained his license. He joined the Kimberling City Amateur Radio Club and held numerous offices, including president. His radio call was WBØQKE. He enjoyed meeting and talking with members of his Radio Club frequently throughout the week. Harvey also enjoyed working with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, assisting with answering radio calls on the weekends for the Table Rock Lake boating area. He was a member of the Kimberling City United Methodist Church and enjoyed activities at the Kimberling City Senior Citizens Center.

    Survivors include: one son, Don Howard of Ione, CA; eight grandchildren, David Alan Stephenson, Jr. and wife, Lisa, Adam Michael Stephenson and wife, Shawnda, Tamara Lien Stephenson and husband, Thomas, LeAnn Darlene Stephenson and husband, Michael, Jon Paul Stephenson and wife, Andrea, Robert Louis Stephenson, Melissa Dawn Stephenson and husband, Stacey and Michael Howard Stephenson, and wife Virginia; twenty great grandchildren, Chad Wylie Stephenson, Chelsea Rose Stephenson, Jaz Michael Stephenson, Talina Shay Stephenson, Kovyn Guess Stephenson, Gavien Thorn Stephenson, Ryan Allen Stebbins, Matthew Thomas Stebbins, Jared Lee Stebbins, Andrew William Ley-Stephenson, Alyssa Frances Mellas, Justin Bailey Miller, Ezekiel Thorn Miller, Ezra Jacob Miller, Maximillio Rodriguez Stephenson, Oscar Rodriguez Stephenson, Isabel Rodriguez Stephenson, Gabriella Rodriguez Stephenson, Taylor Nicole Stephenson, Ethan Alexander Stephenson; special friends, Jim and June Stetson and a host of other relatives and friends.

    A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 in the United Methodist Church, Kimberling City, MO with Reverend Clif Crockett officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home-South,
    Kimberling City, MO.

    A visitation was held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 in the United Methodist Church, Kimberling City, MO.
