Sandy W7NRS and I had our sights set on Turk’s Head for our next Summits on the Air activation. This one is nearly 6 miles round trip. Along the way I talk a little bit about the Sonoran Desert. There's some great scenery to catch and I share a little bit of information on about the prickly things we encounter here. Once we arrive on top, there is plenty of radio time for us both too. This is Sandy's first time on HF and second time doing SOTA.
Nice work by both of you! I missed it...what was your HF antenna that you used on 40 and 20? And who did you work on 23 cm? And what rig?
Thanks Mark. The HF antenna was a homebrew linked dipole. For 23cm I just used the ALINCO DJ-G7T HT with a 10 element yagi I purchased off eBay. I worked N7AMA, WA7JTM, AA7PS, and KI7QEK. Hope to catch from a hill sometime.
In northern Thailand near the Burma border there's a man eating shub that injects dozens of these boomerang shaped barb thingies in your hide. Oucheeee!
Amazing! I wish I lived somewhere warm so I can see cacti in their natural habitat. It's currently snowing where I live.
