    The Amateur Radio Club of Columbia County (ARCCC), Inc. will be hosting special event station W4O for the 30th Annual Oliver Hardy Festival in Harlem, GA. The special event station will operate from 4:00 PM Eastern (2000 UTC) on Friday October 5th through 4:00 PM Easter (2000 UTC) on Saturday October 6th. The station will operate on 80m, 40m, 20m, and if conditions permit on 15m and 10m, using CW, SSB, and FT8.

    Harlem Georgia is the birthplace of Oliver Hardy - one half of the classic Hollywood team Laurel and Hardy - that had audiences laughing from the 1920s to 1950s. Every October, Harlem, which is located 20 miles west of Augusta, Georgia, hosts the Oliver Hardy Festival, which usually attracts more than 30,000 visitors.

    The Furness Amateur Radio Society in England will also operate special event station GB9SL on October 6th, in honor of Oliver Hardy's companion Stan Laurel. Ham radio operators will have an opportunity to contact Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel special event stations!
