October 18, 2011, Bill VE6WJC passed peacefully away in his sleep in his 78th year. It was only a few hours before this that from his lake cottage near Grand Prairie, Alberta, Bill checked into the Newfoundland Caribou VHF repeater net via Echolink through VO1ARG. He shared jovial greetings with his friends in Newfoundland. An active ham to the end. His friendships extended around the world. For example his friend, Serge US5LB lives in the Ukraine and had conversed with Bill for years. Serge has not only developed a deep friendship but also very good English, and a knowledge and interest in Canada as a result. Bill VE6WJC is a silent key who will live on in the hearts and minds of his family in Newfoundland and Alberta as well as his friends around the world
