Serhiy Rebrov named Ukraine head coach

"Former Tottenham and West Ham striker Serhiy Rebrov has been named Ukraine head coach. The 49-year-old, who scored 15 goals in 75 games for Ukraine between 1992 and 2006, has signed a three-year contract."

Worked him as 5B4AMM in the BARTG RTTY Contest last years (2022).
Several contest QSOs with his other call signs years back.

Especially newcomers or those curious about amateur raduo should note that Serhiy certainly breaks prejudicial stereotypes often made cynically or in jest regarding who chooses to become a ham.

Operating as P3X etc he has shown off his professional competitor attributes OTA quite well too! Or perhaps participating in radio-sport has made him a better football player-coach?

I don't want to discuss him as a coach because I don't know anything about football, but I met him personally and I can say that he is a great guy. His father is also a radio amateur and he has been familiar with the radio since childhood. Therefore, it is not surprising that he is good at radiosport. I make QSO with him in almost every big competition.

In my log --and confirmed on LoTW-- in this year's ARRL DX CW contest.

 

Through the years P3X is in my log over a dozen times, now active this weekend in the All Asian DX CW event as heard in FL tonight on 14.010 MHz 0145Z. Had a quick crisp QSO, not bad for his exchange being only 49 .

 

I worked him twice as 5B4AMM in December 2021....only confirmed 1 though.
