This video provides a brief overview of achieving the best possible VSWR of a recently installed 1/4 wave VHF radio antenna for the 2 meter amateur radio band.

The VSWR on the ground was 1.1 across the entire 2m band, however, a flight test revealed a very different result requiring trimming of the antenna.

The video includes in-flight VSWR testing followed by air-mobile ham radio contacts and concludes with a landing at Bremerton National Airport.

Hi Bill! Thanks for posting this on QRZ!! Great video!! :)

And thanks for the email as well!

I had the pleasure of working W7NY when he was just overhead and slightly to the North of me... my QSO with Bill starts at 08:00 in the video

Thanks again for posting!! That was a fun contact - especially getting to see/hear "the other side" like this. It was a beautiful day for flying.

After you left 2m I still followed your communications to the Bremerton airport and back to Gig Harbor on my scanner.

    73 until next time!!
