Most of it is explainable by proximity to my hand. The Mintoids capacitor should be used with the metal cover since it's very sensitive to hand capacitance. I'd be happy to run more tests but I don't have a VFO set up right now unfortunately.
I am lazy and bought a Palstar AT5K-HP to tune my one antenna. For my other i am using an MFJ remote right near the base of the inverted L. Actually works nice.
