    Louis D. Goldman, WA6DLF SK

    April 24, 1939 – May 28, 2016

    WA6DLF Silent

Louis was born in rural Lemoore, CA to L. Harvey and Ruby Goldman. He was the oldest of their eight born, two dying in infancy.

His first day of school was at Central Union School. He would also attend San Jose, Lemoore Elementary-Washington, and Lemoore High School, class of 1957. He was into music, band and was a member of the track team, cadets and other school clubs.

Louis enjoyed camping, hunting and other outdoor activities. While in Boy Scouts, Troop 80 Lemoore, he was introduced to amateur radio. He was a member of the Kings County Reserve Unit of the National Guard. Louis received his GED May 1957. He had left high school and joined the Navy in January 1957. He was stationed on the Oriskany CVA34, when it was recommissioned. Taking discharge April 1960 Louis returned to the family farm in Lemoore beginning a truck driving career.

Along the way Louis met Charlene. They were married May 9, 1958. They were to raise their 4 sons in Lemoore and also for a few years in Santa Maria, California. The family was active in scouting, and at the time Louis was the Cubmaster in Santa Maria to the largest Cub Pack in the district. He never turned away a young man that wanted to learn and have fun. While in Santa Maria he earned his amateur radio license and call sign. He was a member of the Santa Maria Amateur Radio Club and Kings County Amateur Radio Club.

A medical necessity in July 1990 set aside 30 years of truck driving. Louis then spent his time updating his electronic knowledge, rebuilding computers and just looking for a funny story to rebuild and retell. A story was never far away.

Louis leaves behind Charlene and their sons: L. Donald Goldman, Leland Neal Goldman, Keith Lynn Goldman and Bryan Lloyd Goldman, grandchildren: Abigail and her husband Brett, Heather and her husband Nick and Justin, brothers: Steve and his wife Martha Goldman and Gary and his wife Linda Goldman, sister Judy Goldman along with many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

A graveside service will be held on Monday at 9:00 A.M. at Lemoore Cemetery. Friends who wish to make donations in Louis’ memory can make donations to Kings SPCA, 9071 16 1/2 Ave, Lemoore, CA 93245 or American Cancer Society – Smokers Education, 2222 W. Shaw Ave., #201, Fresno, CA 93711. Arrangements are under the direction of Phipps-Dale Funeral Chapel in Lemoore.
