Roy was placed in hospice care, his ventilator was removed and he became a silent key at 8:26pm April 1. I know most of us knew Roy and his health challenges. At the end we could do nothing for Roy, but we can do something for Dawn. Roy has spent the last year mostly in a hospital. Crushing bills and diminished income have left our friend Dawn with difficulty meeting final arrangements for Roy’s cremation. On top of this, her daughter is manager of a retail clothing store that has furloughed her leaving only her son to financially contribute to meet the family’s needs. We all know them and the things they have given to the ham community. Now it is the ham community’s chance to give back to honor Roy’s past service as Emergency Coordinator for Hillsborough County and his other contributions to ARES/RACES, as well as Dawn’s tireless work training new hams and serving TARC as Member Services Chair. These are uncertain times but we have a friend who is grieving and is in need. I have started a GoFundMe campaign to help Dawn withe final expenses for Roy and to provide some support in her time of grieving. Follow the link below. Please give generously.
