Fred, that sure looks like the data center at Sun , Cisco, or Oracle that I had work at. They all look the same. %-)

    HI Fred:
Thanks for the update. Most appreciated. I've also come to realize through this break in service how much I really value QRZ.COM, as I'm sure most hams do, too.
I'm sure that what you are doing will make it even better. It's already a fantastic website which I use almost every day.
Take your time; it's worth waiting for.

Hi, Fred. I wish you the best in your Herculean effort.

Having designed, coded, implemented and maintained somewhat similar systems with 1,000's of concurrent users worldwide (albeit a bit before QRZ's time), I can only postulate some of headaches you probably have to contend with when cutting over a large database with high user access and concurrency - all of who have a life's work and 1,000's of hours of effort sitting in your RDBMS.

To those who may wonder why you just didn't flip a switch to do a hot-swap in place (aka "Drop In Cutover" or "Rip it Drop it and Run"), it may not be obvious that such methods require egregious profiteering, ridiculously expensive redundant OLTP architectures, and $100/hour consulting techies with infinate invoice machines!

Best of luck for a successful install, reload, regression test, and hot opening!

    Keep up the good work.
    TK Anthony / KT1TK

    For us less techie readers:
    * RDBMS = Relational Database Management System
    * OLTP = Online Transactional Procesing System (like banking systems)
