    The lock the content behind a paywall part seems like a bad plan to me It would seem to me if you want to move an aspect of the hobby forward you need to bite the bullet and put the information where it will get the most exposure.

    Strongly agree, and have talked about this with Kai Siwiak and Dick Norton.

    There have been some improvements with the move to digital, with better indexing. This has made the articles much easier to find than before, which does make it more worthwhile to write for QEX.

    I'll keep advocating for easier/better access (and more open source content) whenever I can.

    In my opinion it boils down to smarter authors. DON'T sell all your rights the league if you write somthing and submit it to them. Insist that you retain the right to post the article you wrote to your own website if you so choose. (I have noticed a few authors have done this.)

    Normally all accepted articles become the property of the ARRL. All rights to the published material are reserved to the League.
