Cleaning out my garage, I found a few dozen old QSL cards from 1962, when I got my first license, WA2TLQ. I looked up the call signs and seven of them are still active hams. I decided to send the old cards back to those seven, hoping they get a kick out of seeing something from so long ago. One of them, W2PVY, was a mentor who took me under his wing and helped me build a Heathkit "Two-er" and a push-pull amplifier. He's 86 now, I think living in a nursing home. I hope there are some ham activities I can volunteer for that will help pay back the service he provided to me at the tender age of 17.
