60M NEWS (New 60m/5 MHz WRC-15 Sub-License Now Available for New Zealand).
Paul, G4MWO, Editor of "The 5 MHz Newsletter", informs OPDX readers of
the following [edited]: The ’old’ 5 MHz ZL sub-license expired following
the end of the two-channel 60m NZ trial in 2020. However, NZART is pleased
to announce that negotiations with regulator RSM have been successful
in obtaining a license to allow operation for all New Zealand amateur
operators to use in the 60m (5 MHz) band using the WRC-15 allocation.
Sincere thanks are due to Bob Vernall, ZL2CA, who did outstanding work
by virtue of his position as an NZ government Approved Radio Engineer and
ITU experience with the International Frequency Registration Board enabled
him to put forward his project. Bob states:

"I independently liaised with New Zealand Defense Force (NZDF) to
implement a plan I formulated in January to clear a 60 meter band for
amateur radio. NZDF liked my plan and it has relevance to other NZDF
radio projects. As I'm an Approved Radio Engineer I can modify radio
licenses and NZDF authorized me to make specified changes to their
licenses, which cleared bandwidth for amateur radio. These changes
were registered by RSM around midday on 8 April. That completed my
contribution to development of a 60 meter amateur band in New Zealand."

This made the new WRC-15 Amateur 5 MHz Secondary allocation clear for
the next step which was for NZART to engage with the regulator RSM to
formulate a new sub-license for the band:

5351.5 – 5366.5 kHz, Secondary Status, Maximum Power 15W EIRP, working
together with the IARU 60 m Bandplan.

NZART President Mark ZL2UFI explains: "The NZART license (and your
sub-license) are for a twelve-month period to allow RSM to assess if
there are any interference issues. If not, then NZART will negotiate
with RSM to having the 60 m (5 MHz) band allocation added to the GURL
(General User Radio License). If this negotiation is successful, then
the need for the sub-license will not be required in the future."

INDEXA NEWS (Spring Newsletter). The Spring 2021 Issue of the INDEXA
Newsletter (Issue 132) is now available. John Scott, K8YC, Interim Editor,
reports that this issue reaches back to the April 2006 issue to reproduce
the report on the Peter One DXpedition (by Erling, LA6VM). With the recent
announcement of two separate expeditions to Bouvet planned for the next
two years and the misfortunes of the last two attempts, he felt they
should all be reminded of the difficulties with weather that is prevalent
when operating in the polar regions. We should also be thankful that there
are intrepid souls willing to undertake the risks and hardships of such
ventures. The newsletter can be downloaded at:

    OQRS.

    EU-057. Operators Jef/DD2CW, Dirk/ON3UN, Ief/ON6KX and Roger/ON7TQ
will be active as DD2CW from Rügen Island in the Mecklenburg-
Vorpommern State Group between July 23-29th. Activity will
include the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 24-25th) on SSB, but also
look for operations on all bands on CW/SSB outside of the
    contest. QSL via the Bureau.

EU-057. Operators Hannees/DL9SCO and Ron/ON1DX will be active as DA2W
from Rügen Island in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Group
between July 23-29th. Activity will include the RSGB IOTA
Contest (July 24-25th) on CW, but also look for operations on
all bands on CW/SSB outside of the contest. Listen for QSL info.

EU-111. (Update) Members of the Cray Valley Radio Society (G3RCV)
will be active as GM3RCV from Ceann Ear in the Monach Islands
between July 22-27th. Their plan is to be in the RSGB IOTA
Contest (July 24-25th) as a Multi-2/Low-Power entry signing
MM8C. QSL via LoTW and ClubLog's OQRS. The group plans to be
active on the HF and VHF bands using CW, SSB and possibly the
Digital modes. Operators mentioned are Pat/EI5IX, Chris/G0FDZ,
    Nobby/G0VJG, Tony/G2NF and Jamie/M0SDV. QSL both callsigns

purposes. Activity will be limited, and QRP with an Icom IC-705
most likely using a Digital mode. QSL via eQSL or direct. Look
for more details to be forthcoming.

NA-085. Bruce, K5TEN, who usually activates Dog Island (WW. Loc EL79)
every year in June as K4D, will be active this year between
June 7-18th. Dog Island (USI FL005S, WW Loc.EL79), Florida,
is an extremely rare IOTA because access is controlled by the
25 or so homeowners on the island. There are no hams on the
island, and the only activations have been done by Bruce over
the last 7 years. Access is by permission only and permission
by one of the homeowners. It is only accessible by private
charter or single engine fixed wing aircraft. The airstrip is
overgrown so private charter is the only real choice. There
are no streets, roads, stop signs, trendy cafes, or beach-front
bars. If you need it, you bring it. This year's activity will
only be on 40-6 meters primarily on CW, SSB and FT8 Digital
mode using 100 watts an ICOM 7100 into an off center fed
    dipole. Suggested frequencies are 7188/7035, 10120, 14260/14045,
    18125/18075, 21280/21035, 28310/28010 and 50135/50095 kHz. He
is expected to operate in this year's ARRL June VHF Contest.
QSL via K5TEN, SASE REQUIRED for stateside and DX (DX 2 USDs
REQUIRED). Also, QSL via LoTW, eQSL and ClubLog.

PLEASE NOTE: Since the Webmasters of the new <www.iota-world.org> have
decided NOT to post or dedicate a Web page to announce upcoming IOTA
operations, PLEASE send your IOTA operations information to the OPDX,
and we will post it here in an upcoming bulletin......

been dropped after almost a month underway. Here are the numbers for the
    voyage:
    * I made 951 QSOs from 62 grids in 12 different grid fields.
    * Of those QSOs, 285 were made using SSB, 161 with FM, and 505 on CW.
    * 11 satellites were used for 152 passes in which QSOs were made. I
was on an additional 31 passes in which no QSOs were made.
    * RS-44 was by far the hardest satellite for me to use, but even so
423 contacts (44%) were logged over that one. Also, AO-91 held up
well enough to produce 146 contacts (15%) by itself.
    * All logs have been uploaded to LOTW. I'm still working on QSO fills.

I'll be on from our anchorage while we're here over the next month.
But although we're close to shore, operating from the ship does not carry
DXCC credit, so I'll take the gear ashore and operate as ND9M/KH0 as it's
been several years since anyone's been on satellite from the island."

KH6, HAWAII (Update/Special Event). Several Hawaiian Amateur Radio operators
will activate the special event station K6K to celebrate "King Kamehameha
the Great and Hawaii's Rich History" on June 11th, between 06:00am HST -
(1600z) until 10:00pm HST (0600Z). Excerpts from a press release by Michael,
KH6ML, states [edited]: Amateur Radio Operators will activate special-event
station K6K to celebrate King Kamehameha the Great and Hawai'i's rich
history. K6K special event station will give HAMS a chance to add Hawaii
to their logs to earn WAS or DCXX awards.
Successful radio contacts are eligible to receive a special and inscribed
a certificate bearing the full-color rendition of K6K: King Kamehameha
    Celebration.
After hearing about the cancellation of all King Kamehameha Celebration
parade events statewide, Michael Miller - KH6ML , a community emergency
coordinator, spoke with amateur radio operators and a few people with the
Commission to see if there was a level of interest to make the event happen.
This station is authorized by the King Kamehameha Celebration Commission
    as an official event.
The Kamehameha Day Holiday was proclaimed by King Kamehameha I’s grand-
son, Lot Kapuāiwa - King Kamehameha V, in 1871, followed by an inaugural
celebration of events on June 11, 1872. Years later, in 1939, the Com-
mission was formed under the Hawai'i Territorial Legislature.

with their countries' or FCC regulations. Any authorized amateur radio
    frequency may be used.

    be added.
    * QSLS: eQSLs are available via LoTW. NO Paper QSLs.
