    * PLEASE NOTE: The report "could" contain "Pirate/SLIM" operations or

    First Worry Later".

3D2, FIJI. Bill, VK4FW, will once again be active as 3D2T from Nadi,
Viti Levu Island (OC-016), between July 16-27th. He is there on a family
holiday set up by his sister. Using a K3, Bill will be active on 40/30/
20/17/15 meters using mainly CW. He plans to activate some WWFF areas
in Fiji. QSL via his home callsign.

4L, GEORGIA. Mamuka Kordzakhia, 4L2M, President of the National Associ-
ation Radio Amateurs of Georgia (NARG), reports: "Abkhazia is a Georgian
territory occupied by Russia. From this territory Russian radio amateurs
are using Russian prefixes. By Georgian rules all these stations are
without permits and they are pirate stations. STOP Russian callsigns
from the Georgia territory!!! We are very opposite to the uses of Russian
callsigns from Georgian territory." PLEASE NOTE: The Georgian Republic
prefix of 4L has been in effect since August 1, 1994. Abkhazia is not
part of Russia, and therefore cannot count as Russia for DXCC.

ADXG IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ZZ0T. Oms, PY5EG, informs OPDX that they've
(Araucaria DX Group) been receiving quite a number of e-mails asking
information about the DXpedition to Trindade Island ZZ0T. A group of
Brazilian and Argentines DXers are organizing a operation from Trindade
Island in near future, and the information that the ADXG has is what is
written on QRZ.com under ZZ0T, and a general letter signed by Martin
Bufera (LU9EFO) addressed to the DX community. The ADXG is not the organ-
izer of this expedition. They have been part of several previous expedition
to the island, but not this one. They wish total success of this event.
There has not been a operation from Trindade for a quite long time. The
ADXG suggests future contact be made with Martin, PT2/LU9EFO.

DXCC RULES ARE ABOUT CHANGE? (It's Been a While) Wayne Mills, N7NG, at DX
University reports (on July 12th): "Yes, it's been a while -- too long --
since I have reached for the keyboard to express some fact and opinion.
In July 2004, changes were made to the DXCC List Criteria that -- as time
would tell -- rendered the criteria ineffective." In the article written
by Wayne, he goes on states, "We hope to see a change coming within the
next ten days (ed. which would be July 22nd). Much effort has gone into
the process required to effect this change. On Monday of next week (ed.
July 17th), on this page (ed. see Web page below), I will elaborate on
the original 'situation' and its effects. Why it happened, and how we
proposed to fix it." Wayne's complete article was on the "DX University"
Web site <http://www.dxuniversity.com>, but has since been removed. It
can now be found on: https://dx-world.net/change-in-the-dxcc-rules

REALTIME BAND CONDITIONS WEB SITE <http://www.bandconditions.com>:
The purpose of this experimental Web site is to provide 24-7-365 actual
(REALTIME) band condition information to CW QRPp, QRPe and CW/SSB for
Contesters interested in increasing their scores. It can also be of
benefit to other Radio Amateurs to determine band conditions for Nets
and casual QSO's. This information is NOT based on any software pre-
dictions or any kind of satellite based readings. It is based on a
new Ionospheric sounding method called "HF Ionospheric Interferometry"
which operates very similarly to the PolSAR system used by NASA.

SOLAR ECLIPSE (For Hams and Non-Hams). Ward, N0AX, reports: "OK, ham radio
folks - I'm sure all of you have family, friends, clubs who are interested
in the eclipse. Knowing you're a ham radio operator, maybe they asked how
the eclipse will affect radio waves (a.k.a. 'RF' for 'radio frequency').
Here's an article I wrote in Nuts & Volts magazine presenting several
things they can do with radios they already have to hear the effect them-
selves. There are other articles to read listed in the article and on the
HamSCI website, too. Got your goggles yet?"
