John N1EOD writes "The Northern Virginia Traffic Net is a popular check in net on the Bluemont Repeater at 147.300 +. If you have ever had the chance to drive threw Northern Virginia at 7:30 PM and hear the net, you most definitely heard George Saunders, KR4MU.

George has been our net manager for the last 3 years. During his time as the manager he has provided an outlet for training and inspiration for many of the Net Control stations, and the individual checks IN's. Most of the people that have been associated with the NVTN new of his commitment to get it right! George made us all want to do better. Some of us have even moved on to other nets. We however, will never forget where we started, who trained us, and who gave us the confidence to go forward.

George will keep busy, he has a honey do list and he volunteers his time with other public service organizations.

George recently also served as the Amateur Radio Skywarn Coordinator for the National Weather service office in Sterling VA a postion he held for 4 years.

On George's last night as the Net Manager many people checked into the Net to pay tribute and to thank him for his commitment to the Net and to the Organization. We all just hoped his hat would fit when it was all said and done.

Hats off to George KR4MU and Thank You from all of us in Virginia, West Virginia,Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

We also welcome Jeff KV4AP as the New Net Manager, and Butch N8LE the Assistant Net Manager."
