NRSI News for Sunday the 7th November 2021 South Eastern Amateur Radio Group The November meeting of the South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will be held on Monday the 29th of November at 8pm sharp at the sweep Bar, Adamstown, Kilmeaden, Co Westmeath, Co Waterford. As with all public gatherings, the management of the Sweep Bar will only allow access to those who are fully vaccinated and produce their EU Digital Covid certificate and valid photographic id. There will be much to discuss on the night including plans for the year ahead with some exciting new activations in the pipeline. The South Eastern Amateur Radio Group looks forward to seeing many familiar faces in attendance. Any non-members who are interested in finding out more about the hobby or group are also welcome on the night NNNN HAREC Classes NRSI Classes are being run for anyone interested in studying for the HAREC examinations. If you are interested in becoming licenced as an amateur radio operator, please contact the NRSI secretary. Details regarding these classes are as usual available from www.nrsi.ie NNNN EUDXF Activity Month During November 2021 Special P(x)35EUDXF callsigns will be activated by EUDXF members in the Netherlands. The special callsign is for celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the EUDXF European DX foundation. PI3EEUDXF is activated by members of PI4COM Contestgroup Oude Mass. Al QSOs will be uploaded to LoTW, ClubLog and EQSL. The award is available in 4 classes – Bronze – 10 QSOs with special 35EUDXF stations in at least 3 different countries, Silver – 15 QSOs with at least 5 different 35 EUDXF stations, Gold – 20 QSOs with at 8 different 35EUDXF stations and Platinum – for 30 QSOs with all activated EUDXF stations (at least one QSO should be made with every 35EUDXF station activated in 2021). NNNN Cork Radio Club Although monthly meetings have been canceled, the club meets online via Zoom every Monday evening at 20:30. Everybody is welcome, especially visitors and new members. NNNN South African Mega CW QRS week starting Sunday 14th of November The South African Mega CW QRS week runs from 04:00 UTC on Sunday 14 November to 16:00 UTC on Saturday 20th November is exclusively geared towards the new guys coming up in the ranks and will be comfortable, with a minimum requirement of 8 wpm and not exceeding 12 wpm. The idea is to make as many contacts as you can within a 7 day calendar period, the goal is to log all contacts on the RaDAR Sport Log, proudly developed by Eddie, ZS6BNE www.radarops.co.za/zsportal. You will need a login PIN, which Eddie will gladly send you, in order to take part. CW must be sent using any paddle or any straight key, nothing more than 12 wpm character speed or slower, to qualify to participate. You will need to declare in the comments column on the logging system what kind of key you used. The Radar system self-generates the points. Encourage your friends to make use of the online logging system. Bands permissible during the activity are 40, 20 and 80 m. You may not work the same call sign more than ONCE on each band. Each day you start afresh, you can re-work the same amateurs you did the previous day. The exchange will be the standard CW formal exchange, so long as it is a real contact, your contact may also move into a full-blown QSO if you like. NNNN New Awards The introduction of a number of new on the air awards are planned over the coming weeks by the National Radio Society of Ireland. These will no doubt increase activity on the bands going forward in the country. Further information will follow regarding these new awards and will be made available via the website www.nrsi.ie NNNN Munster Radio Club Munster Radio Club will be hosting a virtual social gathering on Sunday 14th November. All radio enthusiasts within the province are welcome to attend to learn more about the club and its plans for the next few months. Going forward it is planned to run this net every Wednesday at 9pm. All amateur radio operators are welcome to join. If anyone requires a HH account to be setup for them, volunteers within NRSI can assist with this process. NNNN Shannon basin Radio Club Nets The Shannon Basin Radio Club Nets take place on Monday evenings at 9pm on 1990 KHz+/- QRM, on Thursday evenings at 8pm on 3785 KHz +/- QRM and on Sunday evenings a 8pm via the Shannon Basin Repeater on 145.775 MHz. Call-ins are always very welcome.
