News Item of interest to QRPp operators: Recently announced FT8 (only) Portable transceiver, aptly named "DX-FT8" is a QRPp 5-Band radio with a unique design - it doesn't use a conventional Power Amplifier and doesn't have an OS - it is self contained with its own GUI and features a 'Touch-Screen'. Also the "DX-FT8", uses a innovative method of 'synchronization' without having to rely on GPS or Internet! Power Output is approx 700mW hi and 350mW lo (switchable) and operates off a 5V or 12V source. The radio is a 'collaboration' between three hams: Charles (Charley) Hill, W5BAA, Barbaros (Barb) Asuroglu, WB2CBA and Kitted by Kees Talen, K5BCQ. The history behind this 'Trio' is a story in itself, each having a 'pedigree' on supporting the QRP ham Community over many Years and with several innovative designs! For more information on "DX-FT8" you can reach out to any of the above, or visit Groups.io (UCX Group) or PM me (via my call VA3IP) here on QRZ.COM. 73
