    Richard Jay Kilman
    1952-2012

Richard Jay Kilman, born October 21, 1952 in Fredericksburg, TX, passed away March 19, 2012 in San Antonio, TX, surrounded by a host of family and an enormous amount of love. A compassionate man, he was the most awesome father, grandfather, brother, and friend to multitudes of people all around the globe. Richard was the father of Ryan Birks-Kilman (wife Laurel) of Kissimmee, FL; Kelly Kilman Anderson, and Katy Kilman of San Antonio, TX. He was the grandfather to Alison, Erin, Katie, Cassidy, Lily, and Sarah of Kissimmee, FL; Mikayla, Kirstin, Rogan, and Evelyn of San Antonio. He is also survived by sisters Mary Martin and Melanie Roller (husband Frank) of Pipe Creek, TX, and brother Ronald Kilman of Austin, TX. He is also survived by 5 nieces and 4 nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Gabriel and Evelyn Feuge Kilman of Fredericksburg, TX; grandparents Harry and Lydia Rusche Feuge of Fredericksburg, TX; Luvena Kilman Knutson of Oakland, CA; John Kilman of Denver, CO; and niece Christina Nielsen of San Antonio, TX. As a boy Richard earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was awarded the Order of the Arrow from the Boy Scouts of America. He was a 1971 National Honor Society graduate of Fredericksburg High School and a 1972 graduate of Control Data Institute in Dallas. He was employed by eCommerce Industries. Richard's profession in computer systems, software, and communications carried him throughout the United States as well as Europe and Africa. He made the Boerne/San Antonio area his home for the last 30+ years. He was passionately involved in Ham Radio as a licensed operator, enjoyed astronomy, NASCAR racing, fishing, and photography. Carrying on the love of photography from his father, Richard was lovingly referred to by many as "Paparazzi." His sense of humor was admired and enjoyed by all he came into contact with. Even in his last days he didn't pass up the chance to shed humor in light of the situation. He will be truly missed by so many whose lives he touched in some way along his journey. Special thanks from the family goes out to Dr. Charles Duncan and the staff of St. Luke's Baptist ICU and Vitas Innovative Hospice. A memorial celebration of Richard's legacy is planned to be held May 6th at 2 pm in the New Braunfels area. Messages of love and condolences may be sent to the family at love2rjkilmanfamily@yahoo.com or www.facebook.com/r1chk. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Boy Scouts of America, American Veterans, or a in his memory.
