    Mark Christian Johnson
    July 18, 1944 - September 7, 2023

    Mark C. Johnson, 79, of Owatonna passed away peacefully on Thursday September 7th at Medford Senior Care. Mark was born July 18th, 1944 in Esterville IA, the son of Leslie and Eleanor (Lockridge) Johnson. Mark graduated with the class of 1963 from Kenyon High School. He served in the US Air Force from 1963-1967 as an Airman 1st Class 3 Stripes. From there Mark attended the police academy in Alexandria, MN for two years. In 1969 he joined the Steele County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy until he was appointed Welfare Fraud Investigator in 1996. He worked as an investigator until his retirement in 2010. He also spent several years working security at Federated Insurance after his retirement.
    Mark was married to his beautiful wife Sandra on October 17th, 1987 and enjoyed almost 36 wonderful years together. Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially pie and coffee in the afternoons. Mark had a passion for Amateur Radios and spent most of his free time talking with people from all over the world. He also enjoyed photography, biking, going to the gun range and watching old war movies. He was a member of the American Legion, Steele Co. Amateur Radio Club and the 21 Pistol & Rifle Club.
    Mark is survived by his wife, Sandy of Owatonna; step-children Craig (Misty) Schultz of Apple Valley, Chris Schultz of Burnsville, Matthew Schultz of Rochester and Staci (Barry) Borwege of Owatonna. Five grandchildren; Connor and Easton Borwege, Owen Schultz, Stella and Svea Schultz. Brothers; David Johnson of Houston, TX, Steve (Janalee) Johnson of AZ. Sisters; Sue (Steve) Fredrickson of Blue Earth, MN and Beth (Jay) Schroeder of WI, and many extended family members.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; Leslie and Eleanor and 2 infant brothers; Sister-In-Law; Nana Johnson, Mother-In-Law; Elaine Christofferson.
    Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Michaelson Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Owatonna Memorial Gardens.
