Laverne L Anderson, N7GTW SK 10-10 Number: 62504 FISTS Number: 11430 NAQCC Number: 0686 Laverne Lyle Anderson, 77, of Spokane, WA, entered into eternal rest on September 20, 2024, surrounded by his children and blessed with abundant prayers. Born on April 13, 1947, in New Rockford, North Dakota, to Dave and Judy Anderson, Vern moved with his family to Spokane in 1950, where they settled in the Shadle area. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy, stationed in San Diego, and honed skills that would serve him as a Barrelman on the USS Kitty Hawk during his tour in Vietnam. Upon returning to civilian life, Vern made his way back to Spokane, where he met and married the love of his life, Janice Marsh, in May 1975. Together, they welcomed three children and were later blessed with four grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. Vern was a lifetime member of Central Lutheran Church, actively participating in various church activities. An avid amateur ham radio operator, known by his call sign N7GTW, he enjoyed connecting with people around the world. His favorite hobby was fly tying; he crafted colorful flies and took great pride in his extensive collection. A devoted sports fan, Vern passionately followed local teams, including the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Seattle Mariners, and Seattle Seahawks. He particularly looked forward to college football Saturdays and the annual Army-Navy game. Summers spent camping at Luby Bay on Priest Lake were cherished moments filled with family and friends around the campfire. Vern was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janice; parents, Dave and Judy Anderson, and his precious granddaughter, Kiley Rose. He is survived by his sister, Diane Larson, and brothers Monte and Darin (Tracy) Anderson, along with his three children: daughters Cheryl Link (Ron) of Otis Orchards, WA, and Karen Wynecoop (DeWayne) of Cheney, WA, and son Brian (Shelley) Anderson of Spokane Valley, WA. He leaves behind three grandchildren, Saige and Spencer Anderson, and Connor Link, who will forever hold him in their hearts. Friends and family are invited to say a final goodbye to Vern at Central Lutheran Church in Spokane, WA. His memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 11th. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Spokane. Vern's legacy is one of love, devotion, and a passion for life.
