    Larned Whitney Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Passalacqua Funeral Chapel on Nov. 28, 2023.
Larry Whitney was a husband and best friend of Kaye, father of Carolan and
Timothy (wife Nicia), grandfather to Tyson, and brother to Anne, Robert and Tim
    (who predeceased him).
He served in the U. S. Navy starting as a midshipman with Marquette University's
ROTC program, and ending as a Lt. Cmdr. After leaving the Navy, he chose to
study accounting, earning an MBA. He began his own business in Benicia, where
he aided and advised others for over 30 years.
He served his community's Economic Development Board and lead the Benicia
Emergency Response (BERT) group for several years, providing training for many.
As time passed he became more involved with the American Red Cross, receiving
recognition, even from the President of the United States, for the many hours he
volunteered! He also was a member of the Benicia Amateur Radio Club (BARC),
working to develop guidance on how the community could best be served in case
    of a disaster.
"Be prepared for the big one-it's not if, but when- it will happen!" was his
favorite saying. His humorous manner and care for others will be greatly missed.
A service will be offered at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, on Wednesday, December 6th, at 1:30 p.m.
Any donation can be given to the American Red Cross.
