    It is with great sadness that Maryann Lavoie Jones passed away peacefully at her home on April 14, 2021. She was a born on July 16, 1946, in Danvers, MA, a d served in the Women'x Army Corp.

    Obituary for Maryann Lavoie Jones
    Maryann Lavoie Jones, born July 16th, 1946 in Danvers, MA, died peacefully at her home in Independence, LA on April 14th, 2021.

    Maryann served in the Women’s Army Corp where she met her husband of 51 years, Homer Jones Jr. The two married at West Point, New York on April 12th, 1970. Following her service in the military she held a secretarial position at the Department of Agriculture. Maryann also served as the music minister for several years at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
    Maryann’s greatest joys were playing with her grandchildren and singing praises to her Lord and Savior. A true example of Christ’s love for others, Maryann always opened her home and welcomed all in need of respite. She also enjoyed going on adventures with her children, snow crab buffets, coffee, dominating at the bowling alley, and watching movies and musicals. She had a warm, honest smile and boisterous laugh that lit up the room.

    She is survived by her husband, Homer Williams Jones, Jr., of Independence; daughter, Cheryl Westmoreland (Daniel); son, SFC William Joseph Jones (Alana); brother-in-law Warren (Gil) Rines, Sr.; son-in-law, Jake Reeves; grandchildren, Amanda Addison Leonard (Christopher), Kodie Goings, Hannah Reeves Primes (Jerry), Nora Reeves, Jacob Reeves, Samantha Jones, Gracie Jones, Jaden Davis, Remington Jones, Shawn Goings, and Matthew Goings; great-grandchildren, Sophia Sziber, Jaxson Reeves, Grace Reeves, John William Primes, Brailiegh Wheat (and daughter Jensyn), Jaden Goings, Laila Goings, Lilliana Goings, and Lailee Goings; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
    Maryann was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Lena Lavoie; sister, Constance Rines; and daughter, Melony Goings.
    Pallbearers are Ray Lexia, Dale Bowling, Jake Reeves, Aaron Jones, Warren Rines, Jr., David Jones, Frank Dagenhardt, and Ricky Jones.
    Honorary Pallbearers are Warren (Gil) Rines, Sr., Warren Stilley, John Paul Jones, Eric Rines, and Matthew Rines.
    Services will be officiated by Brother Johnnie Stewart at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home in Hammond, LA. Visitation times will be Monday, April 19, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday, April, 20, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. until the beginning of the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Internment will follow the funeral service at Bankston Cemetery in Independence, LA. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that you consider donations to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, The Help Center for Churches, or The Gideons International.
