    Joe Barra
    SEPTEMBER 17, 1949 – FEBRUARY 2, 2024

    IN THE CARE OF
    Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home

José Alberto dos Santos Barra, affectionately known as Joe, passed away peacefully at the age of 74 at home in Palm Coast on February 2, 2024, with his beloved wife by his side. His courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) came to an end, leaving cherished memories in the hearts of all who knew him.
Joe was the true definition of a kind, caring and compassionate human being. With a smile that could light even the darkest of rooms and a one-of-a-kind heart, his thoughts were always for others first, even before his own needs. Everything he did came from a place of love without an expectation of anything in return.
Born on September 17, 1949, in Castro Daire, Portugal, Joe embarked on a life journey that took him from France to the United States. Settling first in Rhode Island and later in Palm Coast, FL, Joe dedicated himself to his profession as an Appraiser, Realtor, and Property Manager, leaving a lasting impact on the community he served.
Joe's joy was found in the company of others, celebrating his Portuguese heritage, and contributing as a dedicated volunteer at the Portuguese American Cultural Center in Palm Coast, where he held membership number 19. He found pleasure in motorcycle rides, boating adventures, and his passion for HAM Radios. Additionally, Joe cherished his time spent cruising alongside his beloved wife, Zina.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Zina; his daughters, Stephanie and Sandra; his sons, Derrick and Christopher; three brothers, three sisters; two stepdaughters, Natalya and Lena; and four grandchildren.
Visitations are scheduled at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 10 am followed by a Mass at 11 am. Relatives, friends, and acquaintances are warmly invited to attend and pay their respects. The final laid to rest services will be private at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the ALS Association in Joe’s memory.
A church visitation for Joe will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida 32164, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's memory may be made to The ALS Association, www.als.org/florida.
