    My Condolences.

    Burke, Robert J. "Bob" Age 79. Born in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Preceded in death by his parents Leo and Katherine Burke. Beloved husband of 53 years to Bernice. Loving father of Michael (Hui) Burke, Mary (Kenny) Krubsack, Tim (Laurie) Burke, the late Bryan Burke, Sean Burke, Patrick Burke, Robert (Christina) Burke and Ryan (Lori) Burke. Dear brother of the late Owen (the late Pat) Burke and Mary Jane Burke. Proud grandfather of Patty, John, Pete, Jennifer (Tim), David, Derek (Jessie), Kayla, Erin and Peter. Great-grandfather of Alyssa and Kalista. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Robert moved to Milwaukee as a teenager. He started attending Marquette University High School and then at the age of 17 joined the Marine Corps. He proudly served with the 2nd Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre. After completing his military duty, he returned to graduate from Marquette University High School in 1948. While attending high school he excelled in track and field. After high school, he attended college at St. Cloud Teachers College and attained his BS in Education in 1952. He earned his MA in Education from Cardinal Stritch University. His first teaching position was the 8th grade class at the Circle Pines School in Circle Pines, MN. The impression he left on those students with his personalilty and dedication to teaching was such that 52 years later, he was invited to be their guest of honor at their class reunion. Bob continued his career as a long time educator for the South Milwaukee School District where he was a reading teacher and a school psychologist. Retired from the South Milwaukee School District in 1989. Bob was elected and served on the Oak Creek School board from 1970 until 1978. Dad enjoyed his retirement by reading, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial Sat., Feb. 24, 9:30 AM at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 9303 S. Chicago Rd., Oak Creek. Visitation at the Funeral Home on Fri., from 4-7 PM and on Sat. at the church from 9 AM until the time of Mass. Interment Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
