G0d rest his soul. 73 Bob, I'm goin miss him. His talent and his influence on Amateur radio and the Heil Sound company stood thee test of time. I sure will miss all the QSOs and his great sense of humor. He was a great man .. Good speed you Bob and my prayers go out to Sarah and the Heil family. Nick, the barber W8NVC, Cleveland Ohio
Just such a nice and friendly ham. I always enjoyed chatting with Bob whether on the air or at a hamfest. One memory? Bob was holding forth in his booth at Huntsville one time and I walked up, "Rod! Bet you can't tell me who made the Who's amplifiers!" "Hiwatt!" said I. EID was just tickled.
I will forever remember my wonderful chats with him last spring for my interview series. I first met him many years ago, at a pro audio trade show - and he treated me like he'd known me for decades. Such a sweet guy and friend to all hams everywhere. He lived a long and blessed life but will indeed by missed by many. Dave W7UUU
I was fortunate to be invited into his home about 10 years ago. We spent the afternoon together. He was a wonderful man, a kind soul, and perhaps one of the greatest hams of our generation. 73 Bob, we miss you
There's not too many people in the hobby that have their name known by practically everyone active in it. Bob was one of the few. 73 Bob, design us some top of the line gear for when we make it to the other side!
Bob K9EID was one of the "ham of hams" good guys. Condolences to Bob's family and close friends. He will be missed. 73 Steve K9ZW
Wow, sorry to hear this. I was happy to have a QSO with Bob back in 2019 with my original call from my Bitx40 while I was still working the bugs out of the radio. Nothing like Bob Heil telling you that he was proud of you. I'm glad I recorded the QSO. Curt WU3U
Bob was an amazing man. So very gracious. Such a great elmer to so many of us. Thank you for all you did for amateur radio and for me personally. 73 Bob
Rest in Peace Sir.. I hope his callsign is retired permanently from the FCC database out of respect for all he has done for amateur radio.
