Norman L. Frause K7PVV October 29, 1948 – April 23, 2021 Norman L. Frause, 72, of Sammamish, Washington, died April 23, 2021 following a brief illness. Of Slovak and Czech descent, Norm’s extended family included many aunts, uncles and cousins from Pennsylvania and Ohio to Colorado, Oregon and Washington. Family gatherings were an important part of his life. A friendly neighbor, he was always willing to help anyone. Norm will also be remembered for his lifelong passion for amateur radio. He became a “ham” in 1960 at age 11 and made many friends “on the air.” He was the youngest radio operator at the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair, where the fair’s radio shack was located in the Alaska Pavilion. Over the years, as K7PVV, he communicated with hams around the world, logging contacts with more than 300 countries. In addition to his amateur radio hobby, Norm was an accomplished woodworker, musician, Little League baseball coach and gardener. He was a licensed private pilot at the age of 18 and loved flying. He co-authored two books on advanced accounting techniques and took pride in keeping an immaculately groomed yard. In the past few years, he also became an auto enthusiast, restoring a 1951 MG-TD. Norm attended Catholic grade school at Seattle’s Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Lourdes. When his family moved from White Center to Normandy Park in 1962, he attended Cascade Junior High and Mount Rainier High School. He was an excellent student and a standout baseball player, lettering all three years. Norm began his lifelong Boeing career at the age of 17. Working full-time, he also attended Seattle Community College and Seattle University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Business in 1972. He retired from Boeing in 2014, following a 47-year IT career. Norm was the son of Sophie and Henry Frause of Normandy Park. He was married to his loving wife Debra for 39 years, and together they raised two loving sons. They have been residents of Sammamish for the past 37 years. He is survived by his wife; sons Matthew and his wife Melissa and their son Reed of Woodinville; Marc of North Bend; brother Bob and his wife Sue of Langley; and their son Max and his wife Kelsey and daughter Emilia of Medina. A celebration of Norm’s life will be held sometime this summer. SK
