On Sunday, March 21, the Mesilla Valley Radio Club will be operating Special Events Station K5B to coincide with the 21st Annual Bataan Memorial Death March Marathon that takes place on the White Sands Missile Range near Las Cruces, New Mexico.

You can read more about the event at: http://www.bataanmarch.com . The Marathon honors the victims and survivors of the Bataan Death March in the Phillipines during World War II.

K5B will be operating from the Mesilla Valley Radio Club station at 6609 Jefferson Street in Las Cruces, NM from 1000Z to 2300Z. Visitors to the station will be welcome.

K5B will be operating as near as possible to 21.305, 14.229, 7.184, and 3.808 megahertz as band conditions permit.

We will be offering a commemorative QSL card for the event.

    K5B QSL Cards

    Greetings, everyone,

The event was yesterday and we estimate we got over four hundred contacts. It was a huge success. Thanks to all who contacted us.

We will be stockpiling the QSL requests until they finally stop coming. At that point, we'll count them and have an appropriate number of QSLs printed.

Then we get to start filling out the cards and stuffing envelopes.

Finally, I'll probably be the one to get the honor of carrying the entire box of SASEs filled with QSL cards to the Post Office.

So you see, this IS going to take a while. Please be patient. Those who worked us [and send a proper request for a K5B commemorative QSL card] will ultimately get one.

73, and may God Bless our veterans.

    Fred, WB4AEJ
