It is with deepest sympathy that I post this message, the amateur radio community has lost another avid CW operator.

    K3SQS Lee Phillipi SK

Lee L. Phillippi, 88, of Rural Valley, PA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Kittanning Care Center.

He was born in Yatesboro, Pennsylvania on June 10, 1922, the son of Leo and Caroline (Plazarine) Philippi.

An Army veteran, Lee served his country stateside prior to World War II. After many adventures far from home, he returned to Rural Valley and in 1951 he married Patricia J. Brinkley. Together, they raised five children. Lee enjoyed his computer, HAM Radio, and especially, spending time with this family and grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Patricia Jean (Brinkley) Phillippi; three sons, Donald Phillippi, Dana Phillippi, and Michael Phillippi and wife Josie, all of Rural Valley; a daughter, Diane Shope of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Dominic Covolo, Valerie Shope Kelly, Stormy and Samantha Phillippi; three great-grandchildren, Brock Kelly, Ethan Phillippi, and Elliot Covolo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his eldest daughter, Debra Lee Covolo who died in 2005.

As per Lee’s wishes, a memorial service will not be held .
