    Joseph F. Mocker Jr., 77, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 with his loving family by his side. Born in Taunton, MA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Polak) Mocker. Joe obtained a degree in mechanical engineering from the New Bedford Institute of Technology in Massachusetts. He began his career with the General Electric Company in Schenectady where he remained for 34 years. He went on to enjoy a career of over 12 years with the NYS Dept. of Labor, from which he retired. A Ham Radio enthusiast, Joe was a member of the Schenectady Amateur Radio Club. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, reading and time spent on Cape Cod. Most of all, he loved animals and betting on the horses at the track in Saratoga. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mocker is predeceased by his son, John Mocker who passed away in 1973, and his brother, Robert Mocker. Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Anne Farnan Mocker, whom he married on August 29, 1962. Survivors also include his daughter, JoAnne Mocker Piterniak and her husband, Bill; and his granddaughter, Janine Piterniak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Schenectady. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to the of Northeastern New York, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205, or to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave,.
