    Jerry Hensley, K4VDH SK


    Paul Jerry Hensley of Snowflake, Virginia, was born December 30, 1944,
    in Kingsport, Tennessee. He entered his Heavenly home on November 15,
    2023
    , after a long illness.
    Jerry was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Veleda Hensley;
    his parents, Paul and Reba Derrick Hensley; brother, David Hensley;
    and sister, Pamela Hensley Bledsoe.
    He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 35 years, Penelope
    (Penny) Rasnick Hensley; son, Kevin Hensley, and daughters, Sarah Beth
    Carter and Alisha Hensley; grandchildren, Blaine Smith, Chloe Carter,
    Deja Carter, Savanna Hamilton and Tiffany Hensley and
    great-grandchildren, Easton, Maziah and Ariyah.
    Jerry accepted the Lord at age 15 and was involved musically in
    church, school and as a member of The Good News Quartet and the
    Galileans Quartet. He led singing throughout the years with his last
    service at State Line Baptist Church in Kingsport, Tennessee. Jerry
    was a member of several churches including State Line Baptist Church
    and Higher Ground Baptist Church. He was admired for his rendition of
    “Pearly White City”.
    Jerry was a graduate of Lynn View High School, attended ETSU, Steed
    College and studied the Czech language at Syracuse University in New
    York in preparation for his military career.
    Jerry served in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in
    Germany and worked at the Czechoslovakian border. He was very proud
    to have served his country and was a true patriot throughout his life.
    Jerry had a 30-year career with the United States Postal Service.
    Throughout his life, he was an avid fisherman which gave him much joy, he was also an experienced HAM Operator who enjoyed many friendships through the years as a result of his hobby.
    He was an honorable man who loved God, his country and his family.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to Caris Hospice and especially Brie who won our hearts with her loving care.
    Military graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at N.B. Henry Family Cemetery, Snowflake rd, Snowflake Community of Gate City, VA with Gary Frady officiating and Jane Winkle providing the music. American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 will conduct the honors.
    Family and friends are welcome to gather at 12 noon at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery or you may meet at the cemetery at 12:45 pm.
    Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, VA is providing
    the services for the Hensley family.
