    Jack Osborne
    November 11, 1922 - May 12, 2023
With a spring in his step and a song in his heart, Jack Osborne (age 100½) passed peacefully on May 12, 2023 with his family at his side. We like to think that he jumped behind the wheel of a 28 Ford Roadster and raced into heaven where he was met by his five siblings and parents who said "Welcome home. You were the last of your generation and you've made the Osborne's proud."
Born at a US Navy base in the Philippines, he travelled the Pacific with his family, eventually settling in San Diego where he proudly served as an aviation ordinance specialist during WW2. After returning to college, he fell in love with his wife Helen beginning what would become a 75 year marriage and love story.
He worked for Cal Vet, helping veterans fund new homes. He loved Ham Radios (K6LVD) and his weekly swap meet show, "The Radio's That Glow In The Dark." He was an avid tennis player.
After retirement, Jack became a City Council watcher, aptly nicknamed "Brown Act Jack." He loved Plato, opera, poetry and a good debate. He was a cat "whisperer," a kindred spirit attracting cats from near and far.
Dad was devoted to his wife and family. He leaves behind son Jack Jr, daughters Janice (Brian) Schmidt and Jill, who provided care for many years. Grandsons Dave (Christina), Rob (Rachel), Marc (Jenna), Tom (Audrey), and many great-grandchildren.
He couldn't have found a better son-in-law than Brian Schmidt. Niece Suzy (Dave) Ferguson who came to be with him in his final hours and Lee Marilyn, John Osborne and John Culbert who reached out regularly. He so appreciated his good friends Dave and Sam, who shared his love of radios. He is predeceased by parents Harold & Jenny Victoria, as well as siblings John, Julie, Jim, Jean, Joel and their spouses.
Our gratitude to the staff at Memorial Hospital who made sure that mom was with dad in his last hours and to Drs. Sanjay Dhar and Robert Heckey who took the time to listen to the worries of a dignified yet old man.
Services were private. Donations can be made to the Sonoma County Humane Society or RedRover.org. Questions can be directed to: aruaidh@me.com.
